Jo-Wilfried Tsonga hasn’t been on a competitive court since Wimbledon, but is hoping the Far East is the key to his comeback.

A knee injury forced Tsonga, then ranked 10th, to miss the entire US Open Series, the Open itself and France’s Davis Cup semifinal victory over Argentina.

Tsonga fell out of the Top 10 to 11th on July 5 and slid to 12th on Sept. 13. The 25-year-old Frenchman is 26-12 on the year but has not won a title to date.

He reached the semifinals last year at Bangkok then won at
Tokyo, rising as high as seventh in the world rankings before finishing the year 10th.

Tsonga’s bigger quest is being healthy for the Davis Cup final against Serbia which will be held Dec. 3-5. France is in pursuit of its 10th Davis Cup title, and its first since 2001.

The French men are currently tied with Great Britain at nine titles apiece, third on the all-time list behind the United States (32) and Australia (28). Serbia has never won the title or reached the final.
