Who's the Bridesmaid? World Tour Finals Scenarios
By Chris Oddo
(November 8, 2012) -- After four days of round-robin play you’d think that the
Barclays ATP World Tour Finals
semifinal qualification scenarios would have simplified a bit, but it seems like they’ve only gotten more complicated.
Below you will find, verbatim, the ATP’s breakdown of the scenarios heading into the final two days of group play.
Click here for a link to the standings
.
While some scenarios are a bit convoluted (a lot of ifs and a lot of thens), it’s clear that
Roger Federer
or
Juan Martin Del Potro
will both get in if they can triumph against the other on Saturday. It’s also clear that
Janko Tipsarevic
is done after today’s loss to Del Potro, and that Federer is through to the semis no matter what happens.
In Group A, which takes the court again tomorrow,
Tomas Berdych
and
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
automatically qualify with a triumph against the other. Strangely, Tsonga can still qualify despite his 0-2 record thus far. If he defeats
Andy Murray
in straight sets Friday and
Novak Djokovic
defeats Berdych in straight sets, then the Frenchman qualifies No. 2.
Any other questions? See below...
