Jack Sock continues making winning moves this summer including reaching the BB&T Atlanta Open quarterfinals on Wednesday. A familiar spot for Sock who reached his first ever ATP quarterfinal at the same event two years ago.

WTA: Sloane Stephens Parts Ways with Coach Paul Annacone

Sock faced off against New Zealand qualifier Michael Venus in their second round match. With a potent combination of big serving and good returning, Sock soon closed out the 6-4, 6-2 win.

The 21-year-old American is still fresh off winning the Wimbledon men's doubles title with Canada's Vasek Pospisil. Sock, having also made his first semifinal of the year at Newport, is closing in on perhaps surpassing his career high ranking of No. 69.

"Obviously the summer is going pretty well so far," Sock told the tournament's website. "I won some matches at the French (Open), Wimbledon was a great showing for me, Newport winning three matches and two matches here so far, so confidence is probably the highest it has ever been."

Next up will be Lukas Lacko who defeated No. 6 seed Denis Istomin 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Dudi Sela Upsets No. 9 seed Sam Querrey

Despite being cheered on by the Atlanta crowd, another American player couldn't book his spot in the last eight.

No. 9 seed Sam Querrey met Israel's Dudi Sela in the night match. Early on, Sela took control by taking the first set and jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the second.

Querrey battled back by holding serve and then breaking Sela at love for 3-all. That momentum surge proved short-lived as Sela broke Querrey again.

Sela soon closed out the 6-2, 6-4 victory. He will next face No. 4 seed Pospisil.
