Video: Fabio Fognini Hits a Spectacular Tweener at the Boodles



As mentioned earlier in the week, when we posted on Ernests Gulbis’s ladyhawking skills, and Jack Sock’s thunderous, head-banging serve, the Boodles is the gift that keeps on giving.

For exhibit C, enjoy Fabio Fognini’s ridiculous running tweener. Not bad for a clay-court specialist, now is it? And incredibly nice to see Fognini smiling and being embraced by a crowd. It’s been a while, and we would like to see more of that.

But back to the tweener: Fognini’s shot is particularly incredible because of the ground he has to cover to get to the ball, and the force with which he strikes the shot. It may be just an exhibition but it’s one of the best tweeners of the year, no doubt. Probably just a cut below some of the beauties we’ve seen from Roger Federer and Dustin Brown, wouldn’t you say?
