The 24-year-old Spaniard won an all-Spanish confrontation with World No.21 Albert Ramos-Vinolas, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, at the Ecuador Open.

Carballes Baena won three straight three-setters this weekend and defeated Ramos-Vinolas for the first time three tour-level meetings.

Carballes Baena becomes the first player other than Victor Estrella Burgos to win the tournament in Quito. The Dominican, who won the first three trophies at Quito, saw his 16-match winning streak at the event snapped by Gerald Melzer in the second round.

For his efforts, Carballes Baena earns $89,435 and 250 ATP Rankings points, rising more than 30 spots to a career-high No. 76.
