Marie Bouzkova recorded her third Top 10 win of 2019 when Elina Svitolina retired down 6-4 4-3.

Marie Bouzkova recorded her third Top 10 win of the season when top-seeded Elina Svitolina was forced to retire down 6-4 4-3 at the Guangzhou Open on Wednesday.

Bouzkova, who knocked off Simona Halep and Sloane Stephens en route to the Rogers Cup semifinals in Toronto this summer, will face either Anna Blinkova or Aleksandra Krunic in the last eight at Guanghzhou.

Third-seeded Sofia Kenin and fourth-seeded Zhang Shuai advanced to the last eight on Wednesday in Guangzhou.

Third-seeded Kenin defeated Katarina Zavatska of the Ukraine, 6-4 6-2, while fourth-seeded Zhang stopped Andrea Petkovic 7-5 6-4.

Zhang entered the match with a 0-3 lifetime record against Petkovic.

Fifth-seeded Katerina Siniakova fell to Viktorija Golubic, 4-6 7-5 6-0, while sixth-seeded Zheng Saisai fell to Italian qualifier Jasmine Paolini, 7-5 3-6 7-5.
