Murray’s miracle!

Andy Murray defeated 13th-seeded Matteo Berrettini in a four hour and 49-minute thriller to earn his first Top-20 win at a major since 2017. Murray has now won 157 times in a row when holding a two sets to love lead. But he needed some help from Berrettini on this one. The Italian muffed a match point in the fifth set, and that opened the door for Murray to finish the deal.

When all is said and done, the victory is testament to Murray’s drive, and his love for the sport. That’s why he’s out there mixing it up on tour, and he played brilliantly to snag the win.

Players react to Murray’s win

First singles Grand Slam win as a mom for Taylor Townsend

A great victory for Taylor Townsend, who blitzed France’s Diane Parry to reach round two. Townsend has been a force on the doubles court in 2023, winning two doubles titles, but this singles win marks her first triumph at a Slam in singles both as a mother and since 2020.

Townsend’s son, Adyn Aubrey, will turn two in March.

“I'm just trying to be the best example that I can for him both when he is with me and, you know, he is not here, but hopefully making him proud,” she said.

Berrettini disappointed, but impressed by Murray

Have to love Matteo Berrettini, even when he’s heartbroken he has great things to say about his opponents. He did a nice job of capturing the essence of Andy Murray after his five-set loss to the Scot on Day 2.

“It's impressive what he could do after so many surgeries, after all the kilometers that he ran in his career,” he said. “It's impressive. It just shows how much he loves the game, how much he loves these kind of matches.”

Holger Rune a Movie Star? Nah, but...

Holger Rune hasn't shown up in the new Netflix tennis docuseries "Break Point" but it looks like he'll be taking part in season two. Rune talked about the series on Tuesdsay after his round one win over Filip Krajinovic.

"We are already starting to do it," he said. "They are filming a little bit. I think the plan is to do some filming for my next match as well. I'm excited to do it. I think it's going to be great. It's good for tennis. It's good for us players. And I think more fans we can get into the sport, it's better. "

Rune says don't worry, he's got no silver screen delusions - he's a tennis purist through and through.

"I'm just very positive about it.I mean, my dream is not to be movie star obviously. It's to be the best tennis player. It's good. As I said, it's more viewers we can get, the more hype we can get about tennis, it's better."

Taylor Fritz Can Serve - But He Can’t Draw

Taylor Fritz hammered 32 aces in his four-set win over Nikoloz Basilashvili on Day 2, and after his match the American tried to get artistic – and clever – when he signed the camera. He tried to draw a lock. It didn’t go well.

And the youngest player left in the draw is…

On Day 1 it was Brenda Fruhvirtova (15!), but the talented Czech was eliminated on her Grand Slam debut. No matter, her older sister Linda, age 17, is still alive after an impressive Day 2 victory.
